What is a breast lift ?
Whether from childbirth and breastfeeding, changes in weight, gravity, or the natural aging process, a woman’s breasts will change over time. These factors can result in sagging breasts losing their elasticity and firmness, a condition also known as ptosis. A breast lift also known as mastopexy is a surgical procedure performed by Dr. Rodolfo Castillo board-certified plastic surgeon in Tijuana, Mexico to recreate the appearance of firm and more youthful breasts.
You might consider a breast lift if:
- Your breasts they’ve lost shape and volume, or they’ve gotten flatter and longer
- Your nipples when your breasts are unsupported fall below your breast creases
- Your nipples and areolae point downward
- Your areolae have stretched out of proportion to your breasts
- One of your breasts falls lower than the other
During breast lift, excess skin is removed and the breast tissue is adjusted, moves and moves the nipple and areola to a more appropriate position to obtain a more aesthetic shape. Dr. Rodolfo Castillo performs the breast lift using one of three types of incisions, depending on the individual characteristics of each patient and in each case he will take measures to obtain minimal healing.
Breast lift is not designed to change breast size, but breast augmentation or breast reduction can be combined for more specific results.
Which incisions are made for breast lift surgery?
Dr. Rodolfo Castillo have developed techniques to remove breast skin and reshape breast tissue. He might make incisions around the areolae, extending downward from the areolae to the breast creases, or horizontally along the breast creases. This depends on your physical characteristics.
When fuller, rounder breasts are the goal, a combination breast lift and breast augmentation surgery may be necessary. There are several methods available for breast augmentation, including saline and silicone implants, as well as autologous fat transfer. When smaller breasts are the goal, a combination breast lift and breast reduction may be recommended.
During the breast lift procedure, extra breast tissue will be removed. The remaining tissue and skin will then be lifted and firmed. You and Dr. Rodolfo Castillo will discuss which method is best for your desired outcome and individual circumstance.
